Its destruction around 1180 BC aligns closely with 1184 BC—the year calculated by Eratosthenes, a Greek polymath who lived c. 276–194 BC. The digs are located in modern-day Hisarlık, Turkey. This video by Pete Kelly, a UK-based historian, writer, and archaeology communicator, gives the background.
