It’s time to stake a claim in the new $1.776 billion slush fund for those unfairly targeted by the government.
I will accept nothing less than $5 million for:
- The fact that every day I have to live with the shame of being an American;
- That my subscriptions to media outlets, which I had formerly enjoyed, are now brimming with the evil committed by a salacious regime only moderately acquainted with the Constitution or the nation’s history;
- That their attorneys general selectively and painfully slowly follow court orders;
- That the above has caused me to turn to solving the Friday and Saturday New York Times crossword puzzles, which I had previously ignored, as a form of distraction.
- That my social media accounts have been flooded to the point of uselessness. Faceless bots, or simply humans, who are either being paid, part of a cult, or otherwise lacking in empathy, seem to dominate some forums.
My emotional suffering is made the more sharp when I had seen the fascism coming for some time. Well before that show The Apprentice, where Trump and B-list actors would make fools of themselves on some network, Trump was calling for the U.S. to invade Iran for oil and to execute four black men for a crime they would later be exonerated for, thanks to DNA. The racism runs deep in Trump. Almost as deep as his greed.
