Nice piece on a unique Hong Kong institution, the bing sutt or ice house, which is a blend of western (American and British) cuisine with a Chinese interpretation.

The deep-fried “French toast” (sai1 do1 si2) is pure evil. Essentially a deep-fried peanut butter sandwich topped with a big pat of butter and golden syrup. It’s amazing, but I only had it once. Always tempted to get it again, but managing to resist.
