I can’t say enough about how much I love this photo. A contemporary of Keith Haring’s and who took more than 40,000 photos of Haring and his street art, Tseng lived from 1950 to 1990. The rest of this East Meets West series is here.

Hong Kong–born photographer Tseng Kwong Chi (曾廣智) began his influential black-and-white self-portraits in 1979, after moving to New York City. Shot over ten years, the Expeditionary Series, also known as East Meets West, features Tseng posing in front of numerous landmarks around the world.
