Yim Tin Tsai: "Little Salt Pan"

About a decade ago or so I visited the abandoned salt flats of Yim Tin Tsai with my Rotary Club. The salt flats date back to 1670, during the reign of Emperor Kangxi (Qing Dynasty). I had no idea it would become a UNESCO site a few years later (2015) or that it would be redeveloped into a tourism destination. This included restoring its original function as a salt flat using methods established by the original Hakka community on the island. To learn more about it, the HK Tourism Board has new photos and information on how to reach it.
