An edible purple tomato is finally here
Thanks to the efforts of Cathie Martin using gene technology and DNA sequencing, combining the purple of the edible purple snapdragon flower onto the red tomato, a new disease-resistent salad buddy is here: the purple tomato. Whether or not I want a purple spaghetti bolognase is another question.
This will no doubt cause a ruckus and endless debate in the GMO yes/no world. I thought that some heirloom tomatoes were purple already, so I'm kind of wondering why this is new other than it can now be "known before grown."
